I produced 3 version of the publication, using different stocks for the cover and content pages, as the stock I wanted to use Heaven 42 from GF Smith, I only had one sheet of and needed more to use for the whole content pages. I wanted to use this stock, as it had a velvetty feel to it, which I felt could feel a little like skin. This would make it feel a little like you are touching someones skin when reading the publication, which links to underwear being worn, and giving it more of a sexy feeling. So instead I used that for one of the pages in one of the books, and used a combination of different stocks for the other books, to see which worked the best when actually printed properly.
I arranged the book so that Dullife Lingerie is on one side of the cover, and when you open it you can read her interview, however when you reach the end of her content, and turn over the page, you see the end of Underground Undies interview upside down. So when you flip the book over when it's closed, you see Underground Undies cover the right way up, and read his content the right way around, but again when you reach the end of his interview, you will see Dullife Lingerie's end of interview upside down. This was to produce a kind of 2in1 publication, making two separate books but encasing them in one cover, but still distinguishing them as individuals.
This element also reflects how Underground Undies is from Chicago, USA, and Dullife Lingerie from Melbourne, Australia. They are at two opposite sides of the world, and have opposing winter and summer times.
I chose the pink colour cover to appear feminine and girly, as underwear is stereotypically something you associate with women. I also chose this because Dullife Lingerie collects underwear for herself, and Underground Undies makes more underwear for women than men. This colour was also chosen because, if this was going to be read by the public, the target market would definitely be women, as not many men enjoy reading about underwear, mainly women's underwear, whereas a lot of women would enjoy reading about this subject. The green cover was chosen to have a fresh appearance, trying to make it look less girly but still delicate. This also isn't too contrasting with the content pages, so the transition from cover to content isn't too stilted. The red cover was chosen to have a more luxurious and sexy appearance, as the underwear featured in this publication is sexy to everybody is some way or another. The stock used was called Plike Bordeaux by G F Smith, which had a very velvetty, soft feel to it, something that could feel similar to silky smooth skin.

How it works:
Final comments
I am really pleased with the outcome of this brief, with everything about it. I am pleased to of gotten this brief done and dusted well before the deadline, so I didn't have to rush to finish anything at the end. I am also pleased how I managed to get two creative people to interview, so that I could produce this two sided book with related content on both sides. These are also two people who I am genuinely really interested in and have followed on social media for a good few years now, so to be able to talk to them with purpose was really great for me.
It would of been great to use the Heaven 42 stock for the full content of this publication, however this wasn't possible sadly due to accessing it. In hindsight, perhaps it would of been good to experiment with a different kind of binding method for each of the three publications, staple for one, maybe saddle stitch in bright green thread for the green cover, and another for the red cover, just to make them more individual for each cover and to see which binding method works the best, aesthetically and ergonomically.
Another idea, is if I had thought to interview a third creative in the area of underwear, I could of produced three smaller books which were somehow all bound together maybe, a three pamphlet book, or just separately but as a collection, this could of been interesting.
However I am really chuffed with the outcome of this brief, and proud with how I have worked.
