Out of the creatives I'd researched, I chose to send these cards to Ana Cuba, photo editor for Amuse digital magazine, and Susan Ward Davies, travel editor of ELLE Magazine. Go big or go home right?
I also messaged and emailed other creatives I was interested in who were not based in the UK, as the card wouldn't arrive in time for Valentines Day.
Initial card designs:
The designs aimed to reflect Valentines Day, whilst appearing contemporary and fairly minimal as well, and definitely girly. It was experimented with untraditional colours in some designs, to see if the aesthetic of Valentines Day would work with untraditional colours, whilst still resembling a Valentines Day card. This has worked, however the traditional coloured designs just look more lovey dovey and I thought it would be better to go all out with hearts and red rather than it looking like a Valentines Day card in disguise.

Finalised inside message:
Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
My name is Becky,
And it's nice to meet you,
I study Graphic Design,
At Leeds College of Art,
Answer my questions,
And I'll give you my heart,
It's for my report,
I promise you that,
I'll love you forever,
If you please email back
(This message was created with the help of very good with words flat mates)
This message goes into more detail as to what my intentions are with the questions, and why I'm reaching out to them in the first place, telling them a bit about my, whilst still sticking with the roses are red, violets are blue Valentines poem.
Finalised cards:
At this present moment, Underground Undies and Dullife Lingerie have returned my messages and I have sent them questions, I'm just waiting for their replies. With the time differences (-6 and +11) so extreme it makes for irregular communication, or at unsociable hours.
Questions:
Amuse:
1. Can you juggle?
2. Who/what is your creative inspiration?
3. What is one thing you've dreamed of doing, but never got round to?
4. What is your favourite photograph and why?
5. If you could switch careers for a month would you, and to what?
6. What do you think of Valentines Day?
ELLE:
1. Describe being a Travel Director in 3 words...
2. What is the most wonderful place you've visited, why?
3. If you could switch careers for a month, would you and to what?
4. As editor of The Travel Edit, do you get to visit some of the places shown?
5. For an aspiring travel editor, what would be your one piece of advice?
6. What do you think of Valentines Day?
Underground Undies:
1. Can you juggle?
2. What's your favourite piece of underwear you've made?
3. What was it like creating undies for dullife_lingerie?
4. Would you ever produce more Star Wars themed underwear to go alongside the Lola Fett?
5. Do you prefer making underwear for men or women?
6. In three words, describe your undies...
7. What do you think underwear will be like in 10 years?
8. Would you consider branching out into bras?
9. Is there a specific piece of underwear that inspires you, if so why?
10. What do you think of Valentines Day?
Dullife Lingerie:
1. What's your all time favourite piece of lingerie?
2. When was the moment you first fell in love with lingerie?
3. Is collecting lingerie and being photographed in it your main job, or something you do for fun?
4. What was your favourite photoshoot?
5. When you're in front of the camera, what do you think of?
6. Does the tattoo below your sternum have a meaning?
7. Have you ever considered creating your own lingerie line?
8. If you could work with anyone (photographer, designer, magazine etc) who would it be?
9. Tell me one aim for the next 2 years?
10. What do you think of Valentines Day?
As you can see, I included 4 more questions for those I messaged, as there wasn't a limitation of space like there was in the Valentine's cards. Underground Undies and Dullife Lingerie are also two people who I have followed on Instagram for quite a while now, so I feel like I know more about their style and products, so therefore have more to ask them, whereas Amuse and ELLE, all I know is what I've seen on the website and read in magazines, I don't know them as people, and especially for Amuse, I haven't been following them for as long.
Each lot of questions ended with "What do you think of Valentines Day?" whether it was in a card or not, as with making the cards, it would be nice to have a Valentines theme, something to hold the report together rather than just the creative themselves.
