Instead I had to print them on normal matte white stock instead, which I wasn't able to do for the double sided printer, having to use an off white textured stock. The colours came out a lot clearer printing my business cards on the normal one sided printer, only this meant that I had to have one side of my business cards on one sheet of stock and the other side on another sheet of stock, and then had to cut them out individually and stick the two sides together using double sided sellotape, which was extremely time consuming and not at all professional, even thought you couldn't tell unless you got really close. However this was the only way to print them with the right colour in the digital print room.
I think the cards have actually came out really nicely, and the stock has a high quality, smooth feel to it as well. You can't tell that they've been stuck together unless you look really closely, and even then you may just think they've been duplexed. Some of the cards I had to trim down slightly as the sizes were a millimetre or two off, but this wasn't much of an issue to have them printed with vibrant, accurate colours on higher quality stock.
